Letters to my baby girl...
Dear Baby Girl Speese,
I love you more than you know. However, I would really appreciate it if you would not use my bladder as your punching bag.
Two near peeing my pants experiences so far this morning. And it is only 11:00 a.m.

Prepared Childbirth Class #1
Last night Dan and I attended our first Prepared Childhood class. The class was FULL (lots of summer babies!) so starting next week we will be divided into two classes.

What I know...
We heard the babies heartbeat. Yay! It is down to 130 and is normally 150ish but still in the normal range. Anyone else have hb’s fluctuate so much?
Not sure what caused the bleeding. I have no infections.
Waiting or a test to come back to check odds for preterm labor.

And back to the doctor we go...
Right when things were going smoothly…
Yesterday I wake up with cramps and spotting.
Really?
It continued on and off throughout the day.
Today it seems better. However, my doctor always says to call just to let them know when things are “off”.
Now they want me to come in as soon a possible. So in an hour I will be heading back to the doctor.

Clarification on movement
I do feel some movement. I feel small kicks very low and have for many weeks.
However, they are not as strong or frequent as others feel at this point. This is due to the anterior placenta.
I have had many ultrasounds (6 and counting) and the baby is always active and kicking but I don’t feel much.
As she gets bigger I will feel more. :)

In other news...
It was also confirmed that I have an anterior placenta which explains why I can’t feel much movement.
Sad.
But soon the baby will be big enough that despite that I will feel plenty of kicks and movement. Yay!

Happy News!
So far so good with my cervix! It measured around 3.8 cm. For those curious below are the averages:
Lets hope it continues to stay nice and long! Way to go cervix!

Today is the day.
That they check my cervical length.
I admit I am nervous. A few years back I had to have a LEEP procedure to remove abnormal cells on my cervix. This can then cause you to have a shorter cervix which can in turn cause your cervix to open up much earlier in pregnancy.
Fingers crossed that my cervix is nice and long and no stitches or bed rest are needed!

Suddenly I am a heater...
I have read on many sites that when pregnant you are suddenly hot all the time.
Up to this point (24 1/2 weeks) I thought this was ridiculous. I was always cold as I was pre-pregnancy.
Then last night happened. I could not sleep at all. I was so hot it was ridiculous. We had not changed the temperature in the house (it was still at 69 degrees) but I was roasting.

So I am having a hard time lately...
With summer comes so many great summer activities that we normally do every year.
I want everyone to understand that I am SO happy where I am at right now and so happy to be pregnant. However, it isn’t easy feeling left out.
People go out and do things and I hear about it later. No invites. It’s just hard.

Fathers Day
Yesterday Dan and I hosted our first “event” at the new house. A Fathers Day/birthday picnic. It was so nice having my family at the new place and having plenty of space to entertain. It worked out perfectly since my sister was in town for the weekend as well.

23 Week Appt Complete!
What I learned:
Weight gain total to this point is 16 lbs. Oops. The doctor said that is good and that I look great so not to be concerned.
The baby was moving around a lot! The Doppler picked up a lot of static which = movement I have learned. :)
Heartbeat was around 162! She must have liked the string cheese I ate before I went to the appt.
Ran into my aunt at the doctor. Always...

23 Week appt today!!!
YAYAYAYAYAY!
I seriously get so excited about these appointments.
The days before them I always start to get really anxious and think that something must be going wrong.
I know, poor attitude.
Then I go to the appt, hear the little heartbeat, and all is well in the world again.

My dogs like to slowly prepare me for a baby...
This past Saturday Harlow & Lola both woke up at 5:00 a.m. Yes, in the morning. Yuck!
Yesterday they slept in until 6:30. Success! I could handle 6:30. I got out of bed, let them outside, got them back in and decided to start laundry quick.

And then I get a summer break. Until August 30! YAY!
I am so incredibly excited to finally have some time at home to relax and really start nesting.

Nursery decorations!

I went back and forth quite a bit on what furniture to purchase. I didn’t want to spend too much money but wanted something that would last.

Baby Bedding
We finally picked our baby bedding.
I admit that I had a struggle with this. Why? Because the bedding I liked was from Pottery Barn Kids. Instantly I think, EXPENSIVE!
However, after looking at other rooms sets we liked we realized that for the quality, the price extra was really not that much.

Maternity Clothing
I was a person who in the beginning of pregnancy was very anti maternity clothing. I swore I could wear my normal clothes with the help of a bella band for at least the first 6 months. Then I would buy one or two pairs of larger work pants/skirts and a couple shirts and call it good. At home I would rock tank tops and sweat pants.

Life is hectic...
Dan (aka: hubby) is traveling again this week. Right after we moved into the new house he left for Europe for 9 days. Now he is off to Dallas for a good chunk of the week. Next week he is off to Chicago.
Travel is part of his job and I accept that and appreciate the hard work he does. However, the timing is just OFF. Is it ever really on though?
